How it works

How to convert Markdown to Word on your device

Three steps, no upload. Here is what happens at each one, where the limits are, and how to check for yourself that your document stays on your device.

  1. Add your content

Paste Markdown into the editor, or choose a UTF-8 .md, .markdown or .txt file. The document limit is 150,000 characters and the file limit is 2 MB.

  2. Review and choose

Select A4 or US Letter and Aptos or Times New Roman. Check headings, lists, tables and links in the preview. Raw HTML is treated as text; images are marked as omitted.

  3. Download your DOCX

Download the file and review it in your document editor. File generation is entirely local. Use only content you have permission to process.

Verify it yourself

You don’t have to take our word for it. Any desktop browser can show you every request this page makes.

  1. Open the converter. Go to Markdown to Word.
  2. Open the Network panel. Press F12 (or Cmd Option I on a Mac), choose Network, then clear the list.
  3. Convert something. Paste some text, or load the example, and select Download .docx.
  4. Read the list. The first time you convert, the browser fetches the converter’s own script files from privateconverter.com, such as preview.worker-….js and conversion.worker-….js. That is code coming to you. No request carries your text: there is no upload and no form submission.

If you accepted analytics, you will also see requests to Google Analytics. They carry the page path, not your document. See the Privacy Policy.
